Type One Kids aims to provide families of children with Type One Diabetes with community, support, and resources to navigate life with Type One. This includes community activities, outreach, education, and collection of resources.
In September 2022 we became part of the type one community. When we left the hospital, we left with a million notes, prescriptions, and a black and white set of instructions on how to handle this new life. However, what we didn't leave with is something we desperately needed: Community. We became determined to create the community we so desperately needed, and knew our child would need. We made the leap to officially seek 501(c)3 nonprofit status in March 2024 after learning that children with type one are 3-5x more likely to battle anxiety and depression related to their diagnosis.
Right now Type One Kids serves families in Onslow County, North Carolina. Eventually we would love to branch out to other counties in Southeastern North Carolina.
At Type One Kids we believe in protecting the privacy of minors. We will never post a picture showing a child's face, especially without permission. If we take pictures of an event we will take the necessary measures to cover a child's face before publication.
